Examples
Each section is followed by instructions for keystroke examples that demonstrate the TI-30XS MultiView™ and TI-30XB MultiView functions. All references in this manual will refer to the TI-30XS MultiView, but are as well applicable for the TI-30XB MultiView.
Examples presume all default settings, as shown in the Modes department.

Switching the TI-30XS MultiView calculator on and off
&turns on the TI-30XS MultiView figurer. %' turns it off. The display is cleared, but the history, settings, and retentiveness are retained.
The APD™ (Automatic Power Downward™) feature turns off the TI-30XS MultiView reckoner automatically if no key is pressed for virtually 5 minutes. Press &after APD. The display, awaiting operations, settings, and retention are retained.
Display contrast
The brightness and dissimilarity of the display tin can depend on room lighting, battery freshness, and viewing angle.
To accommodate the dissimilarity:
one. Press and release the %fundamental.
2. Press T(to darken the screen) or U(to lighten the screen).

Home screen
On the Home screen, you lot can enter mathematical expressions and functions, along with other instructions. The answers are displayed on the Home screen. The TI-30XS MultiView screen tin brandish a maximum of four lines with a maximum of 16 characters per line. For entries and expressions of more 16 characters, you can scroll left and right (!and ") to view the entire entry or expression.
In the MathPrint™ mode, you tin enter upwards to four levels of consecutive nested functions and expressions, which include fractions, foursquare roots, exponents with ^, Ê, ex, and 1010.
When you lot calculate an entry on the Home screen, depending upon space, the answer is displayed either straight to the right of the entry or on the right side of the next line.
Special indicators may display on the screen to provide additional information apropos functions or results.

2nd functions

About keys can perform 2 functions. The principal function is indicated on the key and the secondary function is displayed above it. Press %to activate the secondary part of a given key. Notice that 2nd appears every bit an indicator on the screen. To cancel information technology before entering data, printing %once again. For example, %b25 <calculates the square root of 25 and returns the result, v.
Modes

Use pto choose modes. Press $#!"to choose a mode, and <to select it. Press -or %Qto render to the Dwelling screen and perform your work using the chosen mode settings.

notation modes affect merely the display of results, and not the accuracy of the values stored in the unit, which remain maximal.
NORM displays results with digits to the left and right of the decimal, as in 123456.78.
SCI expresses numbers with 1 digit to the left of the decimal and the appropriate power of 10, every bit in i.2345678Ã105 (which is the same as 123456.78).

Note: In some restricted environments (for case function tabular array, data editor, and the %hmenu), the

ENG displays results every bit a number from 1 to 999 times 10 to an integer power. The integer ability is always a multiple of 3.
Note: Cis a shortcut key to enter a number in scientific annotation format. The consequence displays in the numeric notation format fix in mode.
Float 0123456789 Sets the decimal notation mode.
Bladder (floating decimal bespeak) displays upward to ten digits, plus the sign and decimal.
0123456789 (fixed decimal signal) specifies the number of digits (0 through 9) to brandish to the right of the decimal.
CLASSIC MATHPRINT

Menus
Certain keys display menus: H, %I, v, %t, % , %h, and %{. Some keys may brandish more than one menu.
Press "and $to curlicue and select a menu detail, or printing the corresponding number side by side to the menu item. To return to the previous screen without selecting the item, press -. To go out a menu or application and return to the Home screen, press %Q.

Order of operations
The TI-30XS MultiView™ calculator uses Equation Operating Arrangement (EOS™) to evaluate expressions. Within a priority level, EOS evaluates functions from left to correct and in the post-obit social club.

Fractions

In the MathPrint™ mode, fractions with qcan include performance keys (T, V, etc.) and most function keys (F, %_, etc.).
In Classic manner, fractions with qdo not permit functioning keys, functions, or circuitous fractions in the numerator or denominator.
Notation: In Archetype mode, data editor, and table, use Wto perform circuitous partitioning problems.
Calculations using fractions tin display fraction or decimal results, depending on input.

The TI-30XS MultiView™ estimator defaults output to improper fractions. Results are automatically simplified.
• qenters a simple fraction. Pressing qbefore or after a number tin can result in different beliefs. Entering a number before pressing qmakes that number the numerator.
To enter fractions with operators or radicals, press q earlier you enter a number (in MathPrint™ mode just).
In MathPrint mode, press $between the entry of the numerator and the denominator.
In Classic mode, press qbetween the entry of the numerator and the denominator.
• %Nenters a mixed number. Press %Nbetween the entry of the unit and the numerator.
• %Oconverts between mixed numbers and elementary fraction form.
• %jconverts results betwixt fractions and decimals.
